About the Treatment
Before lip enhancement treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE
If you are considering enhancing your lips with fillers, you owe it to yourself to explore the advantages of treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE. Unlike other lip fillers, Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE is gentle; it’s the first lip filler formulated with a lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, for added comfort.
You may have friends or family members who have had lip enhancement with fillers; be sure to discuss their experiences with them…find out what type of filler they were treated with and how satisfied they felt with the results. Once you’ve determined that moving forward is the right choice for you, you’ll need to find a practitioner experienced in treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE.
When seeking a physician for lip enhancing treatments, it is very important to select someone who is medically qualified, works out of well-established premises, and is able to advise you on the best course of treatment for you. This practitioner should have specific training in using lip enhancing products and have an established expertise in these procedures. Find a pracitioner near you.
Once you find the right practioner, you should try to be very specific about your expectations of the treatment and your desired results. Make sure your practitioner understands exactly what lip enhancements you’re hoping to achieve. It may help to bring photos and examples with you to your appointment.
Your practitioner will also want to know all about your health and will request information about your complete medical history.
During treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE
First, your practitioner will clean the area to be treated. Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE is formulated with added lidocaine for added comfort, but your practitioner may also choose to use additional topical anaesthetic cream to ensure the most comfortable treatment possible. As the anaesthetic takes effect you are likely to feel numbness and a bit of tingling in the area that has been treated—similar to when the dentist numbs your teeth.
The actual treatment takes roughly 30 minutes. Your practioner’s exact injection technique will depend on the type of results you’re hoping to achieve. After the injection, your practioner may massage the treatment site to make sure Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE is properly distributed and the results are even.
Before you leave, your physician may apply ice to your treatment sites for at least 10 minutes to help minimise swelling, inflammation, and bruising.
After treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE
Immediately after lip enhancement treatment, it’s likely you may experience some temporary bruising, discolouration, or swelling. Learn more about safety and side effects . There are no specific food or beverage restrictions after treatment, but to ensure the best possible outcome of your treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA SMILE lip filler, you should be sure to take the following steps to care for yourself over the next 24 hours:
- Use pain medications according to your practitioner’s recommendation
- Don’t schedule dental work or face-down massage immediately following your treatment
- Ask your practioner about facial products or lip balms that should be avoided
- No smoking, pursing lips, kissing or sucking
Be sure to discuss any concerns you have with your practitioner or his or her staff. You should plan on a follow-up appointment from 2 to 4 weeks after your initial treatment; this allows your physician to check the results of the treatment, to assess whether any touch-up is necessary, and to ensure that you’re pleased with the results.
So nothing too complicated, and you’ll enjoy your new look from the first day!
