Before treatment with Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^®.

If you are considering dermal filler treatment with Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^®, the first step is to explore whether it’s right for you. If you know friends or family members who have had treatment, discuss their experiences with them. Once you’ve determined that moving forward is the right choice for you, you’ll need to find a physician who can administer treatment with Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^®.

When seeking a physician for facial volumising dermal filler treatments, it is very important to select someone who is medically qualified, works out of well-established premises, and is able to advise you on the best course of treatment for you. This physician should have specific training in using facial volumising products and have an established expertise in these procedures.  Find a physician near you.

Once you find the right physician, it’s important to be very specific about your expectations of the treatment and your desired results. You should discuss the aspects of your appearance that bother you and what you would like to achieve. Your physician will also want to know all about your health and will request information about your complete medical history.

During treatment with Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^®

First, your physician will clean the area to be treated and might apply an anaesthetic to ensure the most comfortable treatment possible. As the anaesthetic takes effect you are likely to feel numbness and a bit of tingling in the area that has been treated—similar to when the dentist numbs your teeth.

The actual dermal filler treatment takes from 15 to 30 minutes. Your physician may inject Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^®  into the treatment site (e.g. cheeks, cheekbones, and/or chin) with a cannula or needle, depending on what mode of injection is best suited for your treatment needs.

After the injection, your physician might massage your face at the treatment sites to make sure Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^®  is properly distributed and the results are even. Only experienced physicians who have had specific training on using facial volumising products and in using this particular injection technique are authorised to inject Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^® .   Find a physician.

Before you leave, your physician may apply ice to your treatment sites for at least 10 minutes to help minimise swelling, inflammation, and bruising.

After treatment with Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^®

Immediately after treatment, it’s likely you may experience bruising, discolouration, or swelling. Learn more about safety and side effects.  There are no specific food or beverage restrictions after treatment, but to ensure the best possible outcome of your treatment with Juvéderm^® VOLUMA^®, you should be sure to take the following steps:

                      •   Apply ice as necessary, for up to 24 hours
                      •   Take anti-inflammatory medication according to your physician’s instructions
                      •   Avoid massaging the treated area
                      •   Avoid sun exposure as a general precaution
                      •   Avoid sleeping on treated areas for 1 or 2 days

Be sure to discuss any concerns you have with your physician or his or her staff. You should plan on a follow-up appointment from 2 to 4 weeks after your initial treatment; this allows your physician to check the results of the treatment, to assess whether any touch-up is necessary, and to ensure that you’re pleased with the results.

So nothing too complicated, and your new look will last for up to 18 months!
